Gray's first Christmas

We flew into Phoenix and met up with Mike and Toni to have lunch at the Biltmore before we hit the road. They came up to Flagstaff on Christmas Eve.

Gray with a new teething toy that Nanny Toni gave him. Gray got his first tooth 4 days later.

This is hysterical. My Dad and Mom wanted to get Gray a walker so he had something to sit in while in Flagstaff. They went all over town looking and my mom found one left at the 3rd store they went to. The one on display was yellow and green so that is what she thought she was getting. When they opened it up to put it together, they were in shock. We decided to keep it, since it will stay in Flagstaff and Gray may have a girl cousin or sister some day. He loved it so much we couldn't take it away from him. We joked about it daily calling it his "BARBIE CAR," and "PINK MOBILE."

Nap time with Dad.

Christmas morning.

Drew and I were headed out on a run early Christmas morning so we could eat all day long without feeling too guilty. Poor Gray had to wait to open his presents until we got back.

Gray laying on my baby quilt that my grandmother made for me when I was born.

Opening Gray's presents.

Getting some love from Grandma and Grandpa Bohn...

and Grandaddo Mike.

Another nap with Dad.

We played Left, Right, Center and I won 3 times. Toni told me after the 2nd time, if I won one more time I would have good luck forever. WOOHOO! Thanks Toni!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's finally here.....Merry Christmas!

Well, the Christmas countdown is officially over. It's been fun for Gray and I. I hope you are anxiously awaiting next years countdown, although I imagine Gray will not be as cooperative as he has been this year.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, and Santa brought you everything you asked for! Gray will be spending the day being spoiled by both sets of grandparents. Mike and Toni came up yesterday from Phoenix to help celebrate Gray's first Christmas and Gray is so excited. Christmas is so much more fun with a baby!

From
THE UNTHANK FAMILY
with lots of love,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Christmas countdown-2!

ONLY 2 DAYS TO GO!!!

It's snowing in Flagstaff this morning and I am so happy about that!

Gray survived his first plane ride. He had a 5 minute freak out and I could feel the people around me getting irritated, but luckily he settled down pretty quickly.

He also survived a 2 hour drive up to Flagstaff. He started screaming the last 20 minutes so the 4 of us (my dad, mom, Drew and I) sang Old MacDonald at the top of our lungs. We were all laughing so hard.

It's good to be home! I hope you all are in the place you want to be for Christmas.

Christmas countdown-5!

Only 5 days left!

Gray's Uncle Brian and Aunt Kristen sent him this Radio Flyer walker for Christmas. Since we are traveling, we let him open it early! Gray, of course, wanted to pimp his ride for his Christmas countdown. Thanks Uncle Brian and Aunt Kristen, Gray loves it!

Gray also got to open a gift from us yesterday morning because it is too bulky to take with us! Gray will now be able to eat in style in his Stokke Tripp Trapp chair.

It may not have been at the top of his list, but he seemed to love it!

Feed me!

Bonus photo! Had to show his aunt and uncle just how much he liked his present!

Christmas countdown-6!

6 days to go!

Special thanks to Jonathan, Courtney and Willa for Gray's rockin' onesie!

Christmas countdown-7!

7 days to go!

4 days until I see my mom and dad!!!!!!!!

We are car shopping today. Not looking forward to that. I'm not much of a car person. Driving my Outback sounds good to me. However, Drew and I switched cars so I would have more room and a safer car for Gray, and now his (my) lease is up. Gray also asked that we get Bluetooth so he can talk to his grandparents when we are in the car. Hopefully the dealerships won't be too busy since everyone will be at the mall!

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Happy 4 month birthday Gray!

Too cool for school.
If Gray had a watch on, the perfect caption would be,
"Come on Mom, can we hurry this photo shoot up, I've got people to see and places to be!"
Singing Old McDonald always cracks Gray up.
The monkey still has a good 18" on him.

In the last month Gray...

has gotten a new nickname, Gravy.
This nickname came about for a number of reasons I won't get into.

began teething (I think)

stopped taking naps and then started again...thank goodness!

became obsessed with a few of his toys

had his first major accident (while we were running the front wheel feel off the BOB.SCARY!)

met Santa

rolls, rolls, rolls, rolls-he won't stop.

I'm sure I'm missing stuff, but it's all becoming a blur. Guess I better start writing stuff down.

HAPPY 4 MONTH BIRTHDAY GRAVY!

Christmas countdown-9!

9 days to go!

I love, love, love this picture for 3 reasons:

1. It finally snowed last night. We've been waiting and waiting for snow. So yes, it was thrilling (even if it only lasted for a nanosecond.)

2. Drew's great aunt sent this hat, sweater and bootie set that she knit by hand for Gray. It is adorable and I am in awe of her skills. We took some pictures of Gray in his set to send to Drew's great aunt and they turned out so cute, I had to use one for the blog.

3. Gray's smile. Isn't it the best?

Little Booger.

Seriously?

Yes, I am interrupting the Christmas countdown for a picture of boogers. I couldn't resist. We had taken Ellie around the block and it was a little chilly out. When we got home and I looked in the mirror, Gray had 2 little friends sticking to his face. You see, the problem is that the Baby Bjorn is supposed to fold over, but instead the flap constantly pops up and rubs on his nose, thus causing the boogies to come out. So glad my camera was nearby for this one.

I think it's hilarious.

14 days to go!

We hope your shopping is done, so you don't have to spend your weekend at the mall! This is the first time in 13 years that I haven't worked retail during Christmas! Let me tell you how good it feels! The thought of going to the mall makes me cringe! Of course, we have to go today.
Wish us luck!

Christmas countdown-20 and 19!

19 days to go!

I apologize. I realized that I started this countdown on the 1st with 25 days to go, when it should have been 24 days to go. So, we were one day off. Well, it worked out perfectly because I had 2 pictures to post from Gray's visit to see Santa on Friday.

Drew's firm has a kid's party with Santa. We waited in line for almost an hour (we might as well have gone to the mall!) When we got to the front of the line, Mrs. Clause said, "OK let's turn him around so he doesn't see Santa when you hand him over." Apparently a lot of kids aren't too fond of Santa in person. Gray was so good, Santa didn't scare him one bit. And while we would like to think it is because he is a social baby, I think it was because he really wants to get on Santa's good side so he can get whatever he asks for in the future....when toys REALLY matter.

Christmas countdown-21!

21 days to go!

Saturday, December 4, 2010

We interrupt this countdown for...FOOD.

Cornmeal crepes with Haystack Mountain goat cheese, roasted winter squash, pumpkin seed pesto, shaved apple and apple cider butter.

Manchego cheese souffle with roasted hazel dell mushrooms, Pachamama Farm pumpkin, Serrano ham, almonds and sherry vinegar syrup.
(also pictured, Titan IPA.)

Pure goodness.

You wish, buddy!

Potager is our favorite restaurant in Denver, by far. Last night, Gray got to experience it for his first time and let me tell you, he was psyched! If you live in Denver and you haven't been there, I highly recommend it!

And now back to our regularly scheduled Advent posts....
