T-shirt Tuesday!

"You've got to run like an antelope, out of control!"

Marco Esquandolas

Feeding Ellie sticks.

My 3 blondies.
Gotta follow Ellie.
Probably looking for another stick to feed Ellie.
Whenever Ellie rolls around like this, Gray cracks up!
Taking a break on mom's belly.

Love that little man!

"Run Like and Antelope" is a Phish song. It's a great song to see live! FUN!FUN!FUN!
We got this shirt for Gray when we were in Telluride seeing Phish a week before he was born. They only had a 2T so that is what we got. I waited and waited for it to fit him! Now he wears it all the time! Great t-shirt! Good memory!

T-shirt Tuesday!

Scary or comforting thought? :)
Every time I put Gray in this t-shirt it makes me think...what will he be when he grows up? Will he show people respect? Will he be kind and generous? Will he be outgoing, fun and likeable? Will he be athletic? Will he love music, art and books? I hope for all of these things and so much more. But whatever he becomes, however he turns out, I will love him and be there for him until my dying day. That is what being a mom is all about.

I try to remind myself that how I raise Gray(treat him/love him/discipline him/socialize him/teach him) will without a doubt have an affect on the person he will become, the person that could someday change the world (obviously I have high hopes.)

Reminds me of a line from "Greatest Love of All," when Whitney sings...
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

To the future!

Happy 21st!

Gray now likes to smile and say "cheese" when I get my camera out! That is what he is saying here.
Relaxing with his "blank."
Gray got a "tar." Actually its a ukelele for ages 5 and up. Gray LOVES it and carries it around everywhere saying "Dada, tar." I only hope he takes after his dad because I know nothing about playing guitar!
Loving his new instrument.

I was trying to get Gray to do air guitar, he was VERY excited to try.
This picture makes me think of a photo I've seen of Bob Dylan lying in bed playing guitar. ha. One can hope.
Having fun!
Love those eyes!

 HAPPY 21 MONTH BIRTHDAY GRAY!

T-shirt Tuesday!

This shirt was made for Gray. Well, actually it was made for Debbie Harry (Blondie) in the 80's, but it's so perfect for my little blondie! Poor kid must have had his picture taken more times in his 21 months than Debbie Harry has in her sixty-some years of life.

Happy Birthday!

Hi GrayDays readers!
I'm Drew's cousin Anne. Kristy has generously allowed me to hijack her blog to wish my co-worker Sean Hansen a Very Happy GrayDays Birthday! Sean, who has never met The Unthank's, has followed the blog since I accidentally left it open at work one night. He was especially impressed by Gray's first birthday party (it was amazing!). So...Sean, here are your very own cupcakes.
Happy Birthday! (and thanks Kristy!!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEAN!!!

T-shirt Tuesday.

I am a huge Beastie Boys fan. They are one of my favorite bands of all time. I remember the first time I heard them. I was in a pizza place with my brother and his baseball team after they won a game and one of the kids played "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)" on the jukebox. I must have been 7 or 8. I thought it was the coolest song and then when I saw the video on MTV, I thought it was even cooler. When I was in high school I remember "performing" (hardly) with a bunch of my friends a lip sync/skit to "Paul Revere." We didn't have to audition because we were all in Student Council and we put the show on. Well, we ended up getting in trouble for using fake guns and pretending we were drinking beer. CLASSIC. Anyway, I have tons of memories of listening to The Beastie Boys. The topper was seeing them in Denver during their Gala Tour. They encouraged everyone to dress up as if they were going to a Gala. We even rented a limo. It was awesome.

Needless to say, it was heartbreaking to hear of MCA's passing last week.  So, in memory of Adam, I would like to dedicate this T-shirt Tuesday to him! Thanks for the beats. RIP.

HAPPY #1 NELSON!!!!!!!!

Nelson's BIRTHDAY celebration week!!!!!!!!
Nelson and Gray at the aquarium.
Looking for the whales.
Impossible.
Having a little of Nelson's snack.
And by a little, I mean he ate the whole bag.
Outside the aquarium on a cloudy, rainy day
Love this.
Could this be any sweeter?
Trying to wake up after a long nap.
Lincoln Park Zoo. So beautiful and FREE.

Crawling around on the deck.
Gray enjoying his new car.
Having a ball with Nelson's bow.
Nelson got a new drum from Kristen's mom (Diane) and step-dad (Mike). Gray dropped one of the drum sticks down a crack in the deck within 2 minutes of it being opened. Nelson, didn't seem to mind.
Bathing buddies.
I think this was right before Gray started yelling "NO" at Nelson b/c he wasn't wanting to share.
Proof that we were at the Cubs game. We only lasted a few minutes b/c Gray was terribly sick.
Daddy and Nelson, ready for Nelson's first game.We got the boys these shirts and never got a picture of them in it. They said "Who cares if they lose? I'm here for the booze!"

Delicious.
Rody.
Nelson's favor bags!
Gray almost had a meltdown over these cupcakes. He saw them before the party started and wanted one. Luckily his Aunt Kristen was OK with it!
Look at that cutie.
bigote=moustache
Grandpa and Nelly.
Smash cake!
Mini pinatas.
Brian and Kristen have the most amazing view!
Kids quesadilla bar
Kristen and Nelson.
How cute are they?
Photo wall!
Grandma and Gray (Gray was not feeling well at all and it is very apparent in this picture, poor guy!)
Grandma, Grandpa and their cranky little loves.
Nelson's birthday gift from Diane and Mike.  This car is amazing!
Mexican blocks, how appropriate!
Birthday boy.
These empanadas were amazing. Food trucks line up at the bottom of Kristen and Brian's building every day around lunch time. I think that is where Kristen found the people to make these empanadas. YUM.
Trying to get the hat and bigote on for a photo. Didn't work so well.
Nelson is FOCUSED.
YUM.
Diggin' in.
I think he likes it.
Happy Birthday Nelson!!!!
Nelson on his new horse from Grandma and Grandpa!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY NELSON!!!

We just got back from celebrating Nelson's birthday in Chicago. He had a FABULOUS party that was Cinco de Mayo themed. Gray and I were out visiting for a week and had a great time with Brian, Kristen and Nelson! Unfortunately, Nelson was sick when we got there and Gray was sick by the time my parents and Drew got there. Nelson was feeling much better in time for his party, thank goodness!  He is so sweet and so happy. Gray is so lucky to have such a fabulous little (big) cousin.

Thanks to Brian and Kristen for a wonderful week! You should feel very lucky to be living in such a wonderful city with so much to offer! We'll be back soon!
