lookin' fine at nine

I'm having a very hard time believing that my little goldie girl is 9. I remember when I went to meet Ellie with my friend Brooke. She had a bee sting on her nose and when the breeder opened the gate, she ran right towards me. Right then I knew she was our dog. She has been our best friend for 9 years and although these last 2 years (after having Gray) have been challenging for her, she has managed to win the heart of one more Unthank. The little boy who has stolen her mom and dad, her constant attention, her fetch and her runs has become her best friend. Well, maybe I should say she has become his best friend. Gray is so in love with Ellie. He snuggles with her 100 times a day. He pats her head, pulls her tail, pulls her ears, lays on her belly, throws her ball, gives her treats, feeds her breakfast and dinner and would do anything she asked him to do. He is in complete awe of her and I completely get it.

Happy Birthday to our Goldie Girl!
We love you!

T-shirt Tuesday!

"TALL."
That's what Gray kept saying as he was standing on Ellie's chair.
He kept falling backwards and thought it was amazing.
 Trying to do a headstand.
DJ Gray on the mic.
This was hilarious. Gray kept saying "Ellie" into the mic and putting it up to Ellie's mouth.
I think he was hoping she would starting rapping.

T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!
DOUBLE TROUBLE!

Gray loves his "pup" so much!

Sweet (most of the time) girl!
Sweet (most of the time) boy!

 Ellie love.

This shirt is an oldie but a goodie!
It is definitely in my top 5 favorites, simply for what it says!
Gotta love Ryder and James!

T-shirt Tuesday

NO!
It's got to be one of Gray's favorite words to say. That is why when I first saw this shirt, I had to have it.  I missed T-shirt Tuesday last week. I took these pictures last Tuesday, but never got around to getting them up on the blog.

T-shirt Tuesday (a day late)

I had to have this shirt...funny thing is I ordered it from a store in Chicago.
Of course, couldn't find a COLORADO shirt in COLORADO!

The top picture may be my new favorite picture of Gray!

Born to be Wild

"Ladies, who wants to take a spin in my new ride?"
Looking cool, calm and confident.
"ENOUGH of the paparazzi!"
"So busy, I have to eat and run."
"Mom, my car needs some glasses too!"

Getting out of his car and taking off his shades. He thinks the shades are just for driving.
Glasses off, time to get out.

Gray got his first car. He loves it. It's hysterical to watch him in it. For some reason he thinks his sunglasses have to be worn when driving, probably because Drew and I always have ours on in the car. I was going to take his car outside for him to play in our driveway but we may wait a little while...a few days ago I found his car over on it's side with him in it (must drive like his dad!) I'm sure Gray will get lots of use out of this car!

Lesson learned from this experience:
Do not put toys together that have a million pieces while your child is awake!!!

T-shirt Tuesday!

"You've got to run like an antelope, out of control!"

Marco Esquandolas

Feeding Ellie sticks.

My 3 blondies.
Gotta follow Ellie.
Probably looking for another stick to feed Ellie.
Whenever Ellie rolls around like this, Gray cracks up!
Taking a break on mom's belly.

Love that little man!

"Run Like and Antelope" is a Phish song. It's a great song to see live! FUN!FUN!FUN!
We got this shirt for Gray when we were in Telluride seeing Phish a week before he was born. They only had a 2T so that is what we got. I waited and waited for it to fit him! Now he wears it all the time! Great t-shirt! Good memory!

T-shirt Tuesday!

Scary or comforting thought? :)
Every time I put Gray in this t-shirt it makes me think...what will he be when he grows up? Will he show people respect? Will he be kind and generous? Will he be outgoing, fun and likeable? Will he be athletic? Will he love music, art and books? I hope for all of these things and so much more. But whatever he becomes, however he turns out, I will love him and be there for him until my dying day. That is what being a mom is all about.

I try to remind myself that how I raise Gray(treat him/love him/discipline him/socialize him/teach him) will without a doubt have an affect on the person he will become, the person that could someday change the world (obviously I have high hopes.)

Reminds me of a line from "Greatest Love of All," when Whitney sings...
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

To the future!

Happy 21st!

Gray now likes to smile and say "cheese" when I get my camera out! That is what he is saying here.
Relaxing with his "blank."
Gray got a "tar." Actually its a ukelele for ages 5 and up. Gray LOVES it and carries it around everywhere saying "Dada, tar." I only hope he takes after his dad because I know nothing about playing guitar!
Loving his new instrument.

I was trying to get Gray to do air guitar, he was VERY excited to try.
This picture makes me think of a photo I've seen of Bob Dylan lying in bed playing guitar. ha. One can hope.
Having fun!
Love those eyes!

 HAPPY 21 MONTH BIRTHDAY GRAY!
